1. The underground transformer and switchgear station „Hochstrasse"
FULLY BOOKED
10 June, Departure from Messe Frankfurt : 9 hrs - Duration : 2.30 hrs (incl. transportation)
The underground transformer and switchgear station „Hochstrasse" supplies large parts of the inner city of Frankfurt. Important Buildings, such as the headquarters of major finance institutes with high demands on power supply reliability are directly supplied via this plant.
The plant consists of 110kV GIS switchgear, power transformers and 10kV switchgear.
The rooms for the station were built nearly completely in the underground. The underground construction was inevitable because of the available space in the city. Therefore the technical solutions for the special requirements are not common technology and will be interesting for visitors with related technical experience.
2. Model City of Mannheim (Smart grid project)
FULLY BOOKED
10 June, Departure from Messe Frankfurt : 9 hrs - Duration : 6.30 hrs (incl. transportation and lunch)
The visit is dedicated to the project "Model city of Mannheim" lead by MVV Energie AG in the model region of Rhein-Neckar.
MVV Energie AG has a long history as a local supplier of energy, district heating and water to the City of Mannheim and also as a pioneer company in collaborative research projects focusing on joint practical testing of innovative technology. The Model city of Mannheim project concentrates on an urban conurbation with a high penetration rate in which renewable and decentralized sources of energy are used to a large extent. By 2012 nearly 1.500 participants will be involved taking part in the practical tests. The participants are receiving up-to-date information on the pricing and origin of their power. The processing of this information is facilitated through the installation of an automatic energy management system (our Energybutler) and new energy services.
Proactive users in the energy market ("prosumers") can gear their power consumption and their power generation towards variable pricing structures. Customers are also helped to contribute to an even greater energy efficiency.
An on site visit to one of our customer's facilities will allow CIRED participants to gain insight into the current functioning of the Energybutler.
